I was able to dual boot on my 2g surf. XP with full 8GB partition on SDHC and xandros on the SSD.
It lasted for a day. Then when i was using word, the eeepc froze. So i did a manual reboot.
My eeepc just hangs with the BIOS trying to read the SDHC. In Short, the SDHC card crapped out.
The SDHC card isnt recognized by any PC's now.
Is there a tool to Repair or low level format the SDHC to revive it??

TIA

Dont worry...your sdhc is not ruined. If it gets formatted through xp during the install process, it sometimes looks like it konked out...but dont fear....that is still alive. Happened to me twice already.

Here's what you do. Do you have a digicam that handles sdhc's? If you do, just pop it in and reformat it thru that cam. Then it'll go back to it's factory state. Then you're good to go.

SDHCs are best reformatted when the OS is already in place. If you let XP do it at initial install phase, it's formatted in a different fashion, and sometimes becomes unreadable.

Don't worry, I've tried this already around 3 times....hehehehe....kaya now I just reformat when the OS is in place already.

Try this format utility from the SD card association itself. http://www.sdcard.org/about/downloads/

Once you reformat though, just use the SDHC as storage since I've never had luck making dual boot for 2G surfs. If all else fails, hope you can still have it exchanged since warranty for these types of items usually let you swap it out for a new one straight out.

Just my 2 cents. Smiley

Can you specify the brand of your SDHC?

Im sure it will work...as long as the digicam reads sdhc cards. 3 times na nangyari sa akin yan....kasi before, when I'd reformat my eee, I'd reformat my sdhc and thumb drive together with the ssd, para isahan na lang and ntfs lahat....little did I know that it reformats the sdhc and usb drives funny. Of course I panicked and thought I ruined both devices. But alas, I tried reformatting them through my digicam....and kavoom! Both got fixed....hehehehe....So im sure that will work.

It's Alive!!!!!!

I tried formating the SDHC card on my friends Canon 450d. It didn't work. It couldn't format the card.

My friend had a Transcend multi card reader.

Desperate to revive the card, I downloaded the panasonic SD card Fromatting tool.
Inserted the SDHC card in to the reader, ran the Formatting tool program.
It was able to detect the card. I was able to reformat it!!!!!!! It's alive!!!!
After that, you still have to format the card using windows xp to fat32.

Installed everything and now, I again have a 2g surf dual boot with Windows XP on SDHC with full 8GB partition and Xandros on the 2GB SSD!

tried and tested na yang formatting tool na yan. It also happened to my 8GB SDHC. BTW, somewhere in the documentation there that Windows isn't actually fully compliant with SD specs. The best formatting tool still is that utility.
